Davit System
The Davit System: Redefining Building Facade Access in the Philippines
The Davit system represents a time-tested and efficient approach for granting both permanent and temporary access to building facades. It is commonly employed to suspend substantial work platforms. Furthermore, it can also support single-user cradles and bosun’s chairs, including options like the RopeClimber bosun’s chair, which can be individually hung from distinct davits.
The Davit system consists of an aluminum alloy mast and jib. The Davit boom is capable of rotating on a specialized rolling collar, enabling the platform to be maneuvered over the parapet. The platform itself is suspended from a captive trolley, facilitating movement along the davit jib.
A temporary or portable Davit is designed to be easily disassembled and relocated to different areas of a building where sockets have been installed.
As of now, Davit systems with dimensions of up to 5 meters in height and 4 meters in outreach have been successfully installed.
Advantages:
- A lightweight solution
- The optimal solution to cover the whole perimeter of a building
- Rapidly installed and low-cost solution
- The cradle or suspended equipment can be used for other maintenance systems
- Easily operated. Just requires basic training in working at heights
- Modular system which allows augmentation or exclusion of elements
Traversing Davit
The traversing davit applies where the labor-intensive operation of moving portable davits from location to location must be overcome.
The Davit system is a traditional and effective method to provide permanent access to facades of buildings with high parapets and little space on the roof for the installation of a complex BMU. Single-user cradles and bosun chairs -such as RopeClimber bosun’s chair – may also be suspended from individual davits.Â
The davit moves systematically over a rail structure fixed to the inner side of the parapet.Â
The design of the machine and its components are calculated with the latest generation software and tested according to both European – EN1808 and Machine Directive 2006/42/CEE – and North American standards.
